The current minister is very interested in fostering a strong connection with Concord University, providing a support group for the students away from home and bolstering the community between town and campus. Campus outreach has been strong, and the church is very friendly and hospitable.
I visited this church a couple of months ago. I went early and sat there for 17 minutes before anyone spoke to me and it was the minister on his way up to his lectern. Everyone was either sitting or standing around talking and they all saw me walk in, but I wasn't important enough for any of them to walk over, make an introduction and welcome me. I felt like walking out before the service even started. It's obvious why their congregation is so small. They do not want anyone to invade their little click. It's so unfortunate. Especially since I'm a direct descendant of Peter Cartwright. He did so much to get the Methodist Church started.
